1. Eccoci il vero perche’:

   IceWeasel is the GNU version of the Firefox browser. Its main advantage is an ethical one: it is entirely free software. While the source code from the Mozilla project is free software, the binaries that they release include additional non-free software. Also, they distribute non-free software as plug-ins.

   Secondo me hanno fatto piu’ che bene a lasciare Firefox e creare un fork nuovo chiamato “IceWeasel”.

   Oltre ad usare IceWeasel vi consiglio anche:

   Gnuzilla runs its own plugin finder service at gnuzilla.gnu.org. To specify this at runtime, access the url about:config in your browser, find the pfs.datasource.url attribute, and change the host to gnuzilla.gnu.org. Also change the protocol from https to http, if necessary. Be careful not to change the rest of the string (after the first single /).

2. Beh, se la questione è etica allora dovrebbero _eliminare_ i repository *non-free* sui mirror Debian. Così credo che si ottiene maggiore coerenza.

3. Hai completamente ragione Santu’, infatti il sito che ho fatto riferimento e’ del GNU, ma non Debian. (Mi pare che) Debian anziche’ usare fork nuovo preferisce usare sempre i sorgenti del Firefox originale ma preparare i pacchetti togliendo le parti che non piace a loro. Come tanti sanno Debian ha la sua definizione di software libero detta “Software aperto” che di per se porta alle conseguenze strane come nel caso di mantenere i repo. non-free…

   Suggerisco ad usare e pubblicizzare il termine “Free software” anziche’ “Open Source” per sempre ed in qualsiasi occasione.

   Consiglio anche tenere un’occhio sempre sul progetto gNewSense, uno dei distribuzioni “liberi” consigliati, ma forse soprattutto quello piu’ aggiornato.

5. è normale che Icewider (o come cavolo si chiama) abbia una visualizzazione orrenda!??
   cioè i caratteri si vedono malissimo, e i font sono pessimi!! rivoglio firefox!! come si fa ad installarlo??

6. Se usi Debian Testing e Kde prova a dare un’occhiata qui. La natura dei problemi per l’antialising possono essere vari quindi probabilmente avresti bisogno di cercare qualcosa su google e provare diverse soluzioni.
